Marko Asmer (#7 Hitech Racing Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA) was the fastest driver at the final pre season test at Oulton Park today.  With just 11 days before qualifying for the first two races of the 2007 season the Estonian finished 0.143 seconds ahead of Stephen Jelley (#1 Raikkonen Roberston Racing Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA), who has been Asmer's nearest rival during testing.

2006 Formula Renault Champion Sebastian Hohenthal (#5 Fortec Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA) put in a good time in the 4 hour afternoon session to finish 3rd fastest, just ahead of Jelley's teammate Jonathan Kennard (#2 Raikonnen Robertson Racing Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA).  Hohenthal's Fortec teammate Greg Mansell (#50 Fortec Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA) was 5th fastest with Sam Bird (#3 Carlin Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA) the quickest of the Carlin Motorsport drivers.

Germany's Maro Engel (#23 Carlin Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA) got his first run in his 2007 championship challenger but the British F3 race winner could only manage 9th fastest, 1.4 seconds behind Asmer.

In the National Class Michael Meadows (#55 Master Motorsport Dallara F304 Mugen-Honda) returned to the top of time sheet,  finishing off where he started at the first test at Pembrey.  Only 0.15 seconds separated Meadows from nearest rival Sergio Perez (#31 T Sport Dallara F304 Mugen-Honda)  with 'Frankie' Cheng (#39 Performance Racing Dallara F304 Mugen-Honda) a close third after only a handful of British F3 tests.   Viktor Jensen's (#37 ADR Dallara F304 Mugen-Honda) pre season preparations were cut short when an off at Druids caused a lot of front end damage after just four laps and the team were unable to get the Icelandic teenager back on the track before the end of the session.

Atte Mustonen (#26 Raikkonen Robertson Racing Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA) was absent from the test due to an injury he sustained earlier in the week.  Max Chilton (#16 Arena Motorsport Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA) and Hamad Al Fardan (#38 Performance Racing Dallara F304 Mugen-Honda) were also missing from todays test.

Ultimate Motorsport had two new drivers at the test, Brazilian Marcello Thomaz and Ireland's Michael Devaney, as the team had parted company with Ben Clucas earlier this week and Esteban Guerrieri was still in Argentina.

The teams will be back at Oulton Park on Friday 6th April for free practice ahead of qualifying for rounds 1 & 2 of the 2007 series on Saturday 7th April.  The first two races of the year will then be held at the Cheshire track on Monday 9th April.  The 2007 season promises to be most open for many years and Easter Monday will tell if testing times translate into race wins for the top drivers.
